Travels through Vietnam day 1

We arrived in Hanoi late and just had time to shower before grabbing a drink at Check Out Pub in Old Town a few blocks from our hotel. The night was a bit restless but we were up early the next morning greeted by our amazing Handspan guide Duc who took us to the beautiful gardens of the Ho Chi Minh Complex before the queues.

We then traveled through the Ngoc Ha village which was busy and bustling with bicycles and markets through tiny alleyways.

In the afternoon we went on a hairy bicycle ride ourselves across the Long Bien Bridge (which was quite a task as we made our way past hundreds of mopeds and cyclists!) before an hour cycle ride (my legs still in pain) to Bat Trang village where the locals make incredible ceramics. I obviously bought some 😉

On the way back we spotted a sugar cane bar which was delicious! Pure sugar cane juice- which is surely good for you?

The beautiful day was topped off by an exciting adventure on a night train-as it’s low season we had a carriage to ourselves. Huge treat!
